Welcome to the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering where we offer industry relevant and up to date programmes in the following areas:
- Audio Technology
- Electrical Power Engineering
- Electrical and Electronic Engineering
Our links with industry means that students are engaging with industry professionals throughout all years of study through guest lectures, site visits and work experience opportunities. All our programmes are accredited by The Institution of Engineering and Technology which ensures that the programme content is relevant and that standards are high. In the case of Audio Technology, the programme is unique in Scotland in being jointly accredited by JAMES also.
The department offers programmes at several levels allowing students to achieve to their highest potential and allowing them to progress directly to a wide range of careers in industry with companies such as Scottish Power, GEC, Howden, BBC and Sony. Recent developments include the innovative Graduate Apprenticeship Engineering route which offers a degree qualification whilst remaining in work.
Many staff are involved in cutting edge research in diverse areas such as renewable energies, artificial intelligence, IoT and music information retrieval which feeds back into teaching and ensures our graduates enter the workplace with the knowledge and skills required for both today’s workplace and for the industries of tomorrow.
