Aim

The Group’s purpose is to make Dundee a Living Wage City. They aim to maximise the number of employees working for Living Wage accredited companies in Dundee and do this by supporting employers in achieving the Living Wage accreditation and by raising awareness of the real Living Wage through events and campaigns.

Summary

Dundee Living Wage Action Group is an alliance of Living Wage accredited employers in Dundee working with Dundee City Council, Chamber of Commerce and Social Security Scotland. The group has recently launched the next stage of its Living Wage Action Plan for 2022-2025 (group est. 2019). It aims to double the number of workers benefiting from the Real Living Wage from 18,000 to 36,000 and to increase the number of Living Wage employers in Dundee to 200 by 2025. They engage with key sectors and industries to promote the benefits of the Real Living Wage and develop a network of ambassadors to mentor employers. The Living Wage Action Group monitors and evaluates the progress and impact of the plan themselves.

What difference does it make?

The Living Wage Action Group has successfully facilitated the accreditation of employers as Living Wage Employers in the Dundee City Council area. This has resulted in a pay rise for all those employed by the accredited organisations who were previously receiving a lower wage than required by the official accreditation.
