Aim

The aim of the project was to provide positive and targeted guidance, support and advice to NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) secondary care maternity service users. The project aimed to identify NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde (NHSGGC) maternity secondary care service users in socioeconomic crisis. Through the provision of immediate financial and material help, long-term support needs were identified and put into place to aid service users. It also aimed to extend the national Young Parent Family Fund to include maternity support.

Summary

The NHSGGC Secondary Care Emergency Maternity Fund was a financial initiative project which identified maternity service users in need of immediate and long-term support.
The NHSGGC Support and Information Services (SIS) pilot was funded by Glasgow Children’s Hospital Charity.
The project was piloted around SIS-identified gaps in maternity financial aid for pregnant individuals or for those who had suffered a miscarriage.

The project allowed NHSGGC to identify maternity secondary care service users who were in socioeconomic crisis. Through the provision of immediate financial and material help, long-term support needs were identified and provisions put into place to aid service users.
