Learning Development Centre (GSBS)

Welcome to the Glasgow School for Business and Society Learning Development Centre (LDC).

The LDC is here to help you maximise your potential and support academic skills development and good study practice. The staff of six Academic Development Tutors work with teaching staff to ensure you'll be fully supported, and appropriate academic sessions are provided as required.

This support available includes help with:

  • Academic writing (essays, reports, case studies etc)
  • Critical thinking
  • Reading and note-taking
  • Structuring coursework
  • Citing and referencing.

Broader study skills include:

  • Planning
  • Time management
  • Exam preparation
  • Academic integrity

The LDC also has an Academic Development Tutor who specialises in ICT and Digital Literacies, providing training and support for study and work.

You can access our online support resources in the GSBS Learning Development Centre course in GCU Learn. Click on the link in the box below. You'll need to log in to GCU Learn. Online resources can also be accessed from the menu on the left.

We work with you  in the following ways:

  • Timetabled classes on programmes
  • Workshops and classes
  • Drop-in clinics and appointments (one-to-one and small group).
