Learning Development Centre (GSBS)
If you'd like Learning Development Centre support for your coursework and study, please come along to one of the drop-in sessions in the first instance, where an Academic Development Tutor will advise you about how to approach your studies and/or coursework and make a longer 1-1 appointment if necessary to discuss your draft submission.
The Learning Development Centre runs several drop-in sessions online and on campus every week. Drop-in times for each week are posted on the Friday of the previous week. Drop-ins are not bookable - students will be seen in order of arrival. A drop-in slot is a maximum of 15 minutes and is ideal for students attending individually or in a small group.
Please note that there will not be time in a drop-in for an Academic Development Tutor to read a full draft - we'll aim to answer specific questions on a section of your draft - please bring any written work on a laptop, not a phone.
In a drop-in, you can:
- Discuss how to get started on an assignment (very useful for a small group of students)
- Break down the assignment and develop a reading and writing plan (particularly useful for a small group of students)
- Get feedback on specific writing issues eg use of referencing, range of sources used, flow and clarity
- Ask any specific questions that you may have.
A drop-in meeting provides sufficient support for most students. If further support is needed, an appointment can be made at the drop-in meeting.
