Falls, frailty and function

Who are we?

The Falls, Frailty and Function Research Hub is part of the Ageing Well research group within the Research Centre of Health at Glasgow Caledonian University. Current members are those with research interests in promoting health and well-being for older adults, people with learning disabilities, and adults with long-term conditions. Multiple professions are engaged in the hub, across areas such as nursing, exercise physiology, and physiotherapy.

Hub members’ current research activities centre around the central issues or ‘giants’ of instability and falls, frailty associated with ageing or premature ageing, immobility/mobility issues and cognitive impairment (memory and/or intellect). The group's work aligns with the good health and well-being Sustainable Development Goal. The group provides the opportunity for internal and external collaboration – including internationally – hosts internal and external speakers, seeks to promote wider research collaborations, and promotes patient and public engagement.
