Caledonian Club
Engaging communities
The Caledonian Club is Glasgow Caledonian University’s multi-award-winning, widening participation and community engagement initiative. We work with Glasgow communities to tackle below-average progression rates into higher education, challenge perceived barriers to progression and provide positive and rewarding experiences within a higher education setting.
We are committed to the communities we serve. We champion education and help children, young people and families to reach their potential.
What we do
We work across four core programme areas; arts and language, transition, STEM, and future aspirations and enterprise. We deliver various projects and events throughout the academic year which aim to:
- Provide information, advice and guidance to young people exploring post-school options
- Build life skills in club members and student mentors
- Enhance the school curriculum with unique learning opportunities linked to GCU's expertise.
How we do it
- We work with five communities across Glasgow with 17 partner schools
- We deliver curriculum-enhancing projects with learners aged three to 18
- Our staff creates structured support for individuals, small groups and whole classes at key educational stages
- Our student mentors from GCU provide positive role models to pupils in schools and on campus.
