Sir Alex Ferguson Scholarship
David grew up in care and this was one of the many reasons why he wanted to become a social worker.
His dream is to work in play therapy, helping kids from challenging backgrounds to talk about their experiences, and supporting their recovery.
When David applied to University he was juggling three jobs which took up every minute of his time. Now thanks to the support of a scholarship he is able to fully focus on his studies.
I applied for the scholarship thinking I had no chance. When I received the call to say I had been successful I was ecstatic, I couldn’t stop smiling for days. This scholarship will allow me to focus on my studies over the next four years rather than having to work three jobs alongside my studies. The award has allowed me to think of University with optimism rather than a sense of dread. I could not be more thankful, but I will try to express my gratitude by doing well in class.
