Glasgow Goes Green 2024
Celebrated with different universities around Glasgow since 2015, Glasgow Goes Green week offers students a chance to enjoy and participate in various sustainability-related events such as workshops, stalls, lectures and many more.
This year the festival week celebrates Green Connections and will take place from 10 - 17 February.
Events hosted at GCU during the GGG:
Monday, 12 February - Dr. Bike - 11am to 2pm - Opposite the campus Security Office
Free bike maintenance and security markings (by Police Scotland) for the University students and staff. For more information on Dr.Bike, please check out the University's Cycling Forum. Places allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
Monday, 12 February - Every Tree Tells a Story - from 12pm to 1pm
Join us for a walk around the University campus during the week of Glasgow Goes Green festival, to learn about the history of Glasgow campus through the stories that trees can tell us. Please note that this event has limited space, meaning that the places will be filled up on a first-come, first-served basis. You can sign up here for the event.
Tuesday, 13 February - Carbon Food-printing - from 12pm to 1pm - CEE15
This event is for anyone who would like to understand more about the carbon impact of food and get their favorite recipes carbon footprinted by the GCU Sustainability Team. Thursday, 15 February - Interwoven Threads - from 12pm to 2pm - Sir Alex Ferguson Library
Art and crafts can be a powerful tool to raise awareness about sustainability and inspire people to take action.
The GCU Sustainability Team invites you for a chat about sustainability while trying out knitting - you can voice your concerns, overall thoughts or any ideas about sustainability. Note that you are more than welcome to take along and work on any of your existing craft projects while having a chat!
