Big Bike Day on campus!
As part of the University's efforts to support active & sustainable travel, we will be hosting our annual Big Bike Day on campus on Monday 7 October 2024, from 11am - 2pm on the University's main concourse (across the Campus Security office). You can find out more about the Big Bike Day activities below:
Bike Sale
Looking for a new bike? Then come along to the bike sale by Include Me 2 Club on the University's main concourse, where you can find yourself a pre-loved bicycle for £50. They will be also selling helmets for £15 (retail price - £45).
Dr.Bike
Dr.Bike will be back on campus to carry out minor repairs and check bicycles to make sure all of our cyclists are safe on the road. Bike checks will be carried out first come - first served basis. Please note, that you have to pick up your bike latest at 2pm.
Bike Security Markings
If your bike doesn't already have a security marking, now would be a great opportunity to get it done by the University's Sustainability Team! Read more about how BikeRegister works.
Lock Swaps
If you are currently using a regular cable lock, you can come along to the event and get it swapped for a new diamond-grade D-lock which provides you with a higher level of bike security.
Fill out the Travel Survey
As part of the University’s commitment to become carbon neutral by 2040, the University’s Sustainability Team is calling on all staff (and students) to take two minutes to fill in the 2024 Travel Survey. This Survey is an annual survey carried out by the University’s Sustainability Team which helps us identify opportunities for developing sustainable travel interventions (e.g. Dr.Bike) and the data is used to monitor the University’s Carbon Footprint.
In addition, our Travel Advisors will be out and about to give tips on saving time & money on your daily commute to campus! So come along for a free cup of tea or coffee and take part of the Big Bike Day!
