Educational Research and Evaluation
The ADSL Senior Research Fellow, Dr Colin Milligan, supports staff engagement in educational research and scholarly activity in pedagogy, practice, policy and participation in partnership with the academic Schools.
The overarching drivers for our work are the GCU 2030 Strategy, and the Strategy for Learning (2030), particularly its goal of ‘Transforming lives through education’. Activities are closely guided by priorities emerging from external drivers such as the SFC Outcome Agreement, the QAA Enhancement Led Institutional Review, as well as the National Student Survey and other measures.
We support evidence based strategic development across the University in three key areas:
- Scholarship of Learning and Teaching
- Evaluation of the Impact of key University activities
- Educational Research.
Current educational research is based on:
The development and impact of learning, teaching and assessment practice, and innovation and evaluation in HE with focus on the student experience including:
- the GCU Apprenticeship model
- placement learning,
- digital learning
- transition
- assessment and feedback
The team also support staff awarded Strategy for Learning Innovation Funding introduced in 2022.
