Senate Disciplinary Committee
Remit
The Senate Disciplinary Committee is responsible for considering and disposing of any allegation made against a student which constitutes a major offence, as defined in the Code of Student Conduct.
Composition
The composition of the Senate Disciplinary Committee for the purposes of a Hearing shall be:-
- The Chair and/or Vice Chair;
- Two members of academic staff drawn from a pool;
- The President of the Students; Association or their nominee, to be drawn from a pool of suitably trained and approved student representatives;
- One other student representative, to be drawn from a pool of suitably trained and approved student representatives.
A quorum is 4 members, of whom at least two must be members of academic staff (one of whom must be the Chair, or Vice Chair or the Chair's nominee) and at least one must be the President of the Students' Association or a student representative drawn from a pool of suitably trained and approved student representatives.
No member of the Senate Disciplinary Committee directly involved in the events giving rise to disciplinary action being brought shall be a member of the Committee hearing that case.
The Department of Governance & Legal Services will be responsible for the administration of all hearings before the Senate Disciplinary Committee and will nominate a colleague who will act as clerk to the Committee.
