Smoking
Glasgow Caledonian University is committed to the health and wellbeing of its staff, students, visitors, contractors and members of the public who are involved in its operation and recognises the right of all staff and students within the University to enjoy a smoke free environment.
As such, it is the policy of the University that smoking (including cigarettes, e-cigarettes, pipes etc) is prohibited throughout the entire University campus with no exceptions. This includes, the Students Association, University buildings, at entrances and doorways to University buildings, walkways, paths etc. It also includes University vehicles and private/leased vehicles used during University business when carrying passengers. Those wishing to smoke, should do so in the designated smoking shelter provided at the back of the Annie Lennox Building or go off campus.
Managers will be responsible for ensuring, within their own areas of responsibility, that students and visitors are informed of the arrangements in place.

The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, the Smoking, Health and Social Care (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Pregnant Workers Directive (92/85/EEC) was taken into consideration when the Policy of the University was developed in 2003 and is reviewed as required.
