Travel

Travel overseas may expose staff and students to a number of health and safety hazards that arise from either the country, the travel itself, or the work being undertaken. This can stem from, for example, political instability, internal security issues within the country, local customs, transport infrastructure, health risks and unfamiliarity with the location.

The University has a range of information and resources available to support you in planning your overseas trip so that staff and students can travel safely.

The most important points to note are:

  • The approving manager (for example, the Head of Department) must email the Overseas Travel Risk Assessment‌ (where the risk is medium or high/extreme) to travel@gcu.ac.uk.
  • For every overseas trip, the traveller or lead traveller of a group must email a current copy of the Emergency Details Form‌‌ to travel@gcu.ac.uk.
  • Please ensure that you have copies of your travel confirmations with you. If you experience problems with your travel arrangements, please contact our Travel Management Company, Clarity, on their 24/7 contact number: +44 (0)1355 579111.
