Hats off to London graduates

Students at GCU London celebrated their graduation today.

The graduands were presented with their degrees and capped by Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Pamela Gillies CBE FRSE during the ceremony.

They were also inspired by a leadership speech from Professor Christopher Moore, Assistant Vice-Principal for Brand Development and Director of the British School of Fashion.

He said: “Of the very many perspectives on good leadership that exist within the academic canon, I have selected three that I believe will have a particular relevance for today.

“The first is from Peter Drucker, arguably the greatest scholar of management science in the Twentieth Century: ‘Leadership is lifting a person’s vision to high sights, the raising of a person’s performance to a higher standard, the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations.’

“The second is from Nelson Mandela: ‘It is better to lead from behind and to put others in front, especially when you celebrate victory when nice things occur. You take the front line when there is danger. Then people will appreciate your leadership.’

“The third is from American cultural anthropologist, Margaret Mead: ‘Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, concerned citizens can change world. Indeed it is the only thing that ever has.”’

GCU London is a professional postgraduate campus of GCU, offering a range of MBA and MSc courses, including International Fashion Marketing, Luxury Brand Marketing, Banking and Finance, Risk Management, Marketing and Management, and Construction Management.
