GCU to host 33rd annual Q Conference

Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is hosting the 33rd annual Q Conference for the International Society for the Scientific Study of Subjectivity.

The conference will be held at event venue 200SVS in Glasgow between today, September 7, and September 9.

Job van Exel, Associate Professor of Health Economics at the Institute of Health Policy & Management, Erasmus University Rotterdam, will present a keynote speech.

The conference is unique in that it provides a multidisciplinary forum for students and professionals to explore the latest research, applications, and developments surrounding the use of Q Methodology. The conference programme covers a range of disciplines and sectors, but the study of subjectivity and the use of Q Methodology connects the papers.

As part of the conference, GCU is also hosting a series of workshops on Q Methodology on Wednesday, 6 September on campus.

Q Methodology is a research method used in psychology and in social sciences to study subjectivity. Since 1985, the Q Methodology Conference has been hosted annually by academic institutions all over the world.

GCU is home to the Yunus Centre for Social Business and Health, which aims to make a tangible difference to people's lives, including studying societal values through Q methodology.

Professor Rachel Baker's research includes the application of Q methodology, preference elicitation and qualitative methods to investigate societal perspectives about the principles underlying health care resource allocation.
