GCU London to honour public health professor at winter graduation

GCU London will hold its winter graduation ceremony on Wednesday, November 8 in Christ Church, Spitalfields. 

The ceremony will celebrate academic awards across the disciplines of banking, finance and risk; construction and project management; public health; and business management and marketing, and will include a number of students graduating from the British School of Fashion.

The University will present a Lifetime Achievement Award to Professor Mike Kelly, Senior Visiting Fellow in the Department of Public Health and Primary Care at the Institute of Public Health at the University of Cambridge. In addition, Professor Kelly will be appointed a GCU Honorary Professor.

From 2005 to 2014, Professor Kelly was Director of the Centre for Public Health at the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE). Here, he led teams producing public-health guidance and was responsible for the production of more than 60 guidelines on topics including the prevention of obesity, alcohol misuse, cardiovascular disease, smoking cessation, tobacco control, and the promotion of physical activity.

The GCU London Alumnus of the Year Award will be presented to Josh Cottrell, in recognition of his early career achievements in fashion, entrepreneurial drive and ongoing support towards the British School of Fashion. In 2016, Josh co-founded FAM Clothing, a snowsports brand which aims to bridge the gap between urban street fashion and the mountain. He is also currently studying for an MBA with Kingston University and the Berlin School of Economics and Law, having completed his MSc International Fashion Marketing at GCU London with a Scholarship from AllSaints in 2012.
