GCU welcomes international students to summer school 2017
Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU)’s International Summer School 2017 will begin on July 18, with 120 students of 14 different nationalities travelling to Glasgow to take part over three weeks.
Participants will follow one of five different academic programmes running simultaneously across Glasgow School for Business and Society, the School of Engineering and Built Environment, and the School of Health and Life Sciences, with each course feeding into a common social programme of excursions and events.
Participants can look forward to a walking tour and scavenger hunt around Glasgow, day trips to Edinburgh and to some of the country’s spectacular rural landscapes, and their own ceilidh – learning Scottish traditional dancing to a backdrop of live folk music.
Jeanine Gregersen-Hermans, Vice Principal and Pro-Vice Chancellor International, said: “We’re hugely looking forward to welcoming our summer school students to Glasgow. We relish the opportunity to showcase what GCU, Glasgow and Scotland have to offer as our incoming guests take part in a challenging course led by our academic staff. International Summer School offers the opportunity to return home not just with credits but also with fond memories of Scotland’s celebrated outdoor beauty, culture, cuisine and warm hospitality.”
Additionally, the School of Engineering and Built Environment is hosting 12 students from Caledonian College of Engineering, Oman, who are here undertaking a four-week internship. The internship includes a variety of academic sessions including research and practical work, and planned cultural trips including trips to Stirling and Loch Lomond.
