Book now for GCU Fashion Showcase 2018
Glasgow Caledonian University is to host a spectacular catwalk show featuring work from the next generation of fashion designers later this month.
GCU Fashion Showcase will include a runway show and creative exhibition of fashion and design work from International Fashion Business, Fashion Branding and Fashion Marketing students.
Highlights include 19th-century clothing designs with a contemporary twist. The catwalk show will also feature the results of a student project to design a collection inspired by Scottish menswear designer Kestin Hare, intended for sale in fashion and lifestyle retailer 18 Montrose.
The results of an ‘upcycling’ project, in which existing materials and products were used to create original hand-finished garments will be also be showcased in the University’s Saltire Centre on 30 May.
A combination of digital and printed work will be on display including fashion magazines, store and product designs, advertising campaigns and contemporary marketing videos.
Students have been working on a range of live projects with a host of fashion brands including GANT, Quiz, and Brora throughout the year.
Dr Julie McColl, Assistant Head of Fashion, Marketing and Retailing at GCU, said: “We are proud and excited to once again celebrate the achievements of our students by displaying their impressive work.”
Nicola O’Hare, programme leader for International Fashion Business, said: “Our students have been working on some exciting and innovative projects.
“We are extremely impressed with the standard of clothing designs that they have produced this year.”
