GCU Fashion Showcase unveils 2018 collection

Top male model Connor Newall took to the runway to support the next generation of fashion designers at Glasgow Caledonian University’s annual Fashion Showcase.

The teenager, from Govan, (pictured right), who works regularly in Paris, Milan and New York, appeared at this year’s show, which displays the best work from students on GCU’s International Fashion Business, Fashion Branding and Fashion Marketing programmes.

The 18-year-old starred alongside fellow models on the books of his agency Model Team for the 2018 catwalk show which included 19th-century clothing designs with a contemporary twist.

Some outstanding fashion design and creative work debuted at the show.

The runway also featured the results of a student project to design a collection inspired by Scottish menswear designer Kestin Hare, intended for sale in fashion and lifestyle retailer 18 Montrose.

This year’s creative exhibition showcased a host of digital and print work, including fashion magazines, store and product designs, advertising campaigns and contemporary marketing videos. The work was a result of live projects with leading creative fashion brands including GANT, Quiz, and Brora.

Aileen Stewart, programme leader for BA (Hons) International Fashion Branding, said: “The students have been working with a number of leading fashion brands this year and have produced some truly exceptional work.

“From full fashion magazines to product ranges and store designs, the 2018 exhibition featured some truly outstanding work.”
