Glasgow Caledonian NYC helps launch global campaign
The "Scotland is Now" global marketing campaign has been launched at an event in New York featuring Glasgow Caledonian NYC's Vice President, Cara Smyth.
Cara was invited by the Scottish Government to address a reception during NYC Tartan Week celebrations, where she highlighted how GCNYC's Scottish values and Common Good mission represent the qualities which make Scotland stand out on the world stage.
Hosted by WNBC's Dave Price, Cara joined a discussion on Scotland's contribution to the global economy alongside Scottish Government minister Keith Brown MSP, Cabinet Secretary for the Economy, Jobs & Fair Work, Mark Hogarth, Creative Director, Harris Tweed, and Stephen Bird, CEO, Global Consumer Banking, Citi Group.
Cara said: "The "Scotland is Now" campaign beautifully showcases Scotland's extensive history and modern approach to business, technology, talent development, and education.
"I am delighted to be representing Glasgow Caledonian New York College, the first foreign institution of higher education to receive degree granting authority in New York. Our recent licensure and welcoming of an inaugural class, proves that the combination of Scottish values and the University's Common Good mission, can transform education into a vehicle that delivers on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals."
Cara spoke about the role of education in addressing the integrated issues facing business and communities. Using the work of the Fair Fashion Center, Cara demonstrated how academia and business can collaborate to redesign industry to support people, planet, profits, peace and partnership.
The evening served as a platform to inspire excitement and galvanize and focus Scotland's strategic partners.
