Leading figures from the television industry joined graduates, students and staff to celebrate 10 years of GCU's pioneering MA TV Fiction Writing programme.

Scots actor David Hayman presented the event at Oran Mor in Glasgow, held to mark a decade since the University launched the UK's only master's programme dedicated to writing TV drama.

Graduates have gone on to work on some of the most popular long-running shows on British television, including EastEnders, Casualty and Holby City, and have also diversified into film, books and theatre.

Actors Blythe Duff, John Michie, Juliet Cadzow, Gavin Mitchell and Colin McCredie joined TV executives, including Robert Love and Brian Park, at the celebration.

Professor Pamela Gillies, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of GCU, said: "It's hard to believe it has been over 10 years since we were approached by Eileen Gallagher and Ann McManus who came to us with a vision to help nurture new television writing talent.

"Working together we have created a truly unique programme that has helped to hone the skills and ideas of over 100 new writers.

"The success of graduates is down to the fact that not only do we have fantastic talented academic staff, who themselves are still working writers but that the course is truly co-created with industry.

"Tonight we are here to share with you and celebrate the achievements of our graduates and of our current students and also to pay thanks to our fantastic industry donors and supporters."
