Professor Gartland to address 500 global delegates in conference keynote speech

Professor Kevan Gartland is to give the keynote speech at the prestigious European Biotechnology Congress in Athens this month.

Professor Gartland, Special Advisor and Professor of Biological Sciences at GCU, will explore opportunities in biotechnology and its development in a speech to around 500 delegates from across Europe, Asia and North and South America.

Vice President of the European Biotechnology Thematic Network Association, which hosts the event, Professor Gartland: said: “It’s a great honour to be invited to give the keynote address to so many eminent academics from around the world. The congress will be an opportunity to share cutting-edge research in a field that is central to so many fields of science and industry.”

Recently appointed a Professorial Evaluator by the University of Petra in Jordan, Professor Gartland is also to host a reception at the House of Lords to celebrate 25 years of the Heads of University Centres of BioMedical Sciences (HUCBMS).

As HUCBMS President, he will welcome 100 delegates to the event, which is to be sponsored by Lord Rana of Malone and celebrates the organisation’s work to promote education, research, training and development in the BioMedical Sciences. GCU is Scotland’s biggest educator of BioMedical Science graduates.
