Professor Lorna Paul helps BBC find truth to getting fit
Physiotherapist Professor Lorna Paul features in a new BBC documentary The Truth About Getting Fit which airs on Wednesday, January 31.
The programme, hosted by Michael Mosley, toured the UK speaking to scientists whose latest research is turning common knowledge about fitness on its head.
Professor Paul from Glasgow Caledonian University, who has practised physiotherapy for more than 25 years, is one of the experts featured in the programme. She advises Michael and a group of volunteers on simple tests people can do at home to test their cardiovascular fitness and muscle strength.
She said: “It was a wonderful opportunity to take part in a lively programme that explores the truths and myths of fitness. My advice to those struggling to keep up with their resolutions is to do the simple tests explained in the programme or find some form of exercise which you enjoy and do it with a friend. The exercise could be anything; walking, swimming, dancing, gym. Start slowly but try and build up to 150 minutes each week and every 6 weeks or so repeat the tests to see how you are progressing.
The Truth About Getting Fit airs at 9pm on BBC One
