Assessment process update for January exams
Following the information communicated to students on January 3 2019 in relation to the exam schedule, we would like to update students regarding decisions which have been made on the assessment process in relation to the January exams. These decisions have been made following discussion with the Students’ Association, Student Services and Academic Schools.
To ensure that no students are disadvantaged in their academic performance, we wish to reassure all students that all assessment boards will consider each individual student and their module performance in discussion with external examiners. Should any anomalies be identified these will be addressed at the relevant assessment board.
In addition, should a student require to take or retake their exam at the next diet, the normal regulations to capping resit marks (which are normally capped at a maximum mark of 40% or 50%) will not apply. The actual mark achieved will be given.
Due to these measures being implemented students are not required to submit Mitigating Circumstances on the grounds that their performance has been impacted due to GCU Learn being unavailable. However, any student, who for justified reasons is unable to attend their scheduled exams, should complete a Mitigating Circumstances Form as per normal practice and these will be considered on a case by case basis. More information, and circumstances for which a Mitigating Circumstances can be submitted can be found here.
If you have any outstanding questions or concerns about your personal circumstances please contact our advisors at studentsupport@gcu.ac.uk
Final year and post taught graduate students will receive a communication with further information.
