Professor Iain Renwick appointed President of the British School of Fashion

Glasgow Caledonian University is delighted to announce that the experienced business leader and entrepreneur Iain Renwick has joined the University as President of the British School of Fashion. He has also been appointed as an Honorary Professor. Professor Renwick will work closely with the Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Pamela Gillies CBE FRSE, and Tim Jackson, the Director of the British School of Fashion, in the strategic development of the School in London and Glasgow and in partnership with Glasgow Caledonian New York College and the Fair Fashion Center.

Professor Gillies said: "It is a privilege indeed to work alongside Professor Renwick who has a deep and demonstrable commitment to social justice and sustainability and brings a wealth of experience to help us further the mission of the University".

Reacting to his appointment, Professor Renwick said: "I am very honoured to be joining with Professor Gillies, Glasgow Caledonian University and the superb team at the British School of Fashion, to help grow and build its diverse fashion offering in Glasgow, London and New York. They have such a key role in focusing and developing sustainable, entrepreneurial and socially responsible solutions for business and society globally. These solutions are at the very core in fulfilling the University’s Common Good mission.”

Iain has an impressive industry background having worked for a range of private and listed media, communication and retail businesses including Storehouse Group PLC, Habitat Ltd, MTV Networks Inc. and significantly for over four years as the CEO for Liberty plc.

Born in Glasgow he studied Law at the University of Glasgow, and has a strong affinity with GCU’s Common Good purpose.

For the past 10 years, Iain has worked as a non-executive advisor, chair and trustee of a number of charities and enterprise initiatives covering arts, heritage, young people, health, education, sustainability and the environment. This has included a role as Executive Chairman at global sustainability consultancy Eco Age Ltd and more recently Iain was appointed as Board Director of BrandCap Group and Non-Executive Director of Goodhood Store Limited.
