The scent of success

The woman responsible for creating some of the world's most-loved fragrances will take part in an exclusive event at GCU London.

Jo Malone CBE will be joined by students and staff at GCU's London Fashion Street campus where she will talk about her career to date and take questions from the audience on the luxury industry. She will discuss various themes with GCU Vice-Chancellor Professor Pamela Gillies CBE, including childhood influences and the key to building a successful brand.

In 2016, Jo was appointed as an Honorary Professor of GCU and presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her outstanding achievements in the luxury sector within the UK and internationally.

Jo now runs the company Jo Loves and is committed to helping emerging businesses.

Originally discovering an instinctual talent for creating scented products by hand in her kitchen, Jo launched her first brand, Jo Malone London, in 1994 and quickly gained cult status around the world.

In 1999, Jo sold the business to Estée Lauder Companies and remained Creative Director until she left in 2006.

She said: "I'm passionate about entrepreneurs, because I am one, and I'm passionate about small and medium sized enterprises because to be one today is one of the most courageous things."

The event will take place on Wednesday, February 27, 6.30-8pm.
