Kevin's tour, which sold out last year, takes in Sauchiehall Street this time

Explore wartime Glasgow with PhD student Kevin Morrison this month.

Kevin will be leading actual and virtual tours of the city to mark the eightieth anniversary of the outbreak of the Second World War, revealing the incredible story of Glasgow’s war through its buildings.

As part of Open Doors Day, Kevin will once again share his research in a series of walks over seven days. This year, the tour will take in Sauchiehall Street, where Kevin will discuss barrage balloons, a mini-riot, the Scots HQ of the Entertainments National Service Association –ENSA – which was unfairly described as Every Night Something Awful, and an ARP exhibition which included a full-scale replica of a gas-proof refuge room. And Kevin will be joined by Professor John Lennon to give a virtual tour of the city at 5.30pm on September 26 at GCU, where he will share his findings before a screening of BH Humble’s hour-long silent Civil Defence in Glasgow, from the National Library of Scotland’s Moving Image Archive.
