Important information to applicants on provisional results
We understand that for some SQA Higher/Advanced Higher and A-Level applicants, your school or college may give you provisional grades for your qualifications in June. Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) will only be able to confirm places on 10th August after receiving final grades from UCAS.
The university will not make any offer on the basis of provisional grades
You do not need to notify us of your grades, whether your results do or do not meet the conditions of your offer. You will be notified of the outcome of your offer from GCU on results day, 10th August.
What if my provisional results meet the conditions of my offer?
If your provisional results meet the conditions of your offer to GCU, you do not need to let us know as we will be unable to confirm your results or place at GCU until we receive your final grades from UCAS in August. We will confirm this to you on the 10th August via your UCAS Track.
Guidance on UCAS results can be found here.
What if my provisional results do not meet the conditions of my offer?
When we receive your final grades from UCAS in August, we will look at what you have achieved and determine whether it is possible for us to confirm your place. We will not be able to make any decisions on your application based on provisional grades, we will notify you of our decision through UCAS Track on 10th August.
Appealing your grade(s)?
Please let us know by contacting us at undergraduate@gcu.ac.uk by including your unique UCAS ID in your correspondence with us and using the subject line: ‘Appealing my grade’.
Students in Scotland require to appeal their grade directly with the SQA from 25th June.
We await further information on the appeals process from the relevant exam boards in England, Northern Ireland and Wales.
