MA TV Fiction Writing scripts return of Mark Stevenson
A star graduate of GCU's MA TV Fiction Writing is returning to the University as a lecturer to help develop the next generation of UK screenwriters.
Mark Stevenson, whose credits include EastEnders, Casualty and River City, will join the team delivering the only full-time masters dedicated to writing television drama.
A former newspaper journalist who began writing film scripts after work, Mark is one of MA TV's most successful graduates.
Since graduating in 2011, he has written for some of British television's most popular long-running shows.
He was named GCU's Alumnus of the Year in 2019 and has returned several times to hold story workshops with MA TV students.
Mark said: "I'm thrilled to be heading back to Glasgow Caledonian University as a lecturer in screenwriting.
"It’s the course that helped launch my career as a TV writer 10 years ago so, in a way, it feels like I'm coming home.
"I can’t wait to use the experience I've gained in the industry to help train the next generation, while also continuing with my own writing and project development."
Professor Anne Marie Di Mambro, who also lectures on the MA TV Fiction Writing, said: "Mark is a TV writer at the top of his game and a graduate of this course.
"He's shown great loyalty to us over the years and is always a hit with the students. We are so lucky to have him."
MA TV students learn how to story conference, storyline and edit scripts, with direct input from producers. Graduates end up with two 'calling card' scripts ready for the industry.
