Book now for Ima Jackson’s Professorial Lecture

Glasgow Caledonian University Professor Ima Jackson will discuss ways of finding joy within navigating the challenges of creatively building community engaged anti-racism practice, in her Professorial Lecture on Tuesday, April 29.
The Professor of Community Engagement in Research, Policy and Infrastructure Development , in the School of Health and Life Sciences, will talk about her career journey and will share examples from some of her research and projects about the mechanisms and approaches used to build community, and sustain the work as well as herself.
Professor Jackson said: “The COVID pandemic and the BlackLivesMatter movement brought arguably for the first time in a generation, a global awareness of what systemic racism is and made clear to ‘the systems’ the undeniable evidence of the impact of systemic racism in people’s lives.”
The lecture will explore the broader shift in public understanding of how racism impacts everyone, but how only some people experience its adverse effects.
Policymakers, activists, people developing their own anti-racism practice, creatives and researchers will find this lecture of interest as well as communities who want to know more about community engagement in research.
The lecture will take place at Glasgow Caledonian University at 5.30pm (registration from 5pm) followed by a drinks reception. Register for free through Eventbrite.
