Engineering apprentice wins Graduate Apprentice of the Year
Engineering apprentice Mark Diamond has been named Graduate Apprentice of the Year at the 2024 Scottish Apprenticeship Awards.
Mark, who combines work with studying BEng (Hons) Engineering (Design Manufacture) at Glasgow Caledonian, won the top prize at a ceremony in Aberdeen today.
The Scottish Apprenticeship Awards, organised by Skills Development Scotland, celebrate the vital benefits apprenticeships bring to individuals and the economy.
Mark, who works for power solutions provider Aggreko and helped deliver the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham and the 2023 Women's World Cup in Australia, said: "Doing a Graduate Apprenticeship gives you the best of both worlds – you are constantly putting your learning into practice and gaining valuable experience.
"I have been able to absorb knowledge from more experienced colleagues on my apprenticeship, which has helped me in my personal and professional development, and also boosted my confidence."
Fellow engineering GA Sean Crumley was shortlisted for Supporting Net Zero Apprentice of the Year.
