GCU Fashion Showcase celebrates the next generation of talent

Glasgow Caledonian University's Fashion Showcase returned to campus in style with a spectacular show celebrating the very best design work of our incredibly talented students.

Featuring a catwalk show and creative exhibition, the event debuted outfits created for live industry projects with sportswear giant Nike and highland wear outfitter MacGregor & MacDuff.

The 2024 celebration, hosted by broadcaster Sophie Wallace, also showcased branding work for fashion label Magic Castles and visual merchandise designs for online retailer Sevenstore.

Dr Shirley Rate, Dean of Glasgow School for Business and Society, said: "I am genuinely bursting with pride for all our students and the work that they have produced.

"What I find incredible is the level of quality and the standard of the products that we are seeing, the professionalism of the students -everything is industry standard."

Earlier, Dr Tessa Hartmann CBE, Honorary President of the University’s British School of Fashion (BSoF), hosted a panel discussion with industry leaders.

BSoF advisory board members Anthony Burns, Chief Operating Officer, ACS Clothing, Maggie Smart, Partner at Folk and Commercial Director of Magic Castles, and Mark Hogarth, Brand Ambassador, Harris Tweed Hebrides, took part in the Q&A session, offering career advice and valuable insight to our students

Maggie Smart said: "I've been in and out of other universities and I have never come across a faculty that are so connected and work so hard at making sure that it's not just classroom learning that you get."
