GCU Honorary Fellow receives Merit Award
Glasgow Caledonian University School of Health and Life Sciences (SHLS) Honorary Fellow and occupational therapist at NHS Lanarkshire Janice McClymont has received a Merit Award for her outstanding work in occupational therapy.
Janice is Head of Profession, Occupational Therapy Services, with our partner health board NHS Lanarkshire. She was awarded for her “considerable innovation, impressive volume of achievements, work on post-COVID and the development of an occupational therapy model which has a national reach and influence”.
The Royal Society of Occupational Therapists Fellowship and Merit Awards recognises individuals nominated by their peers for their excellence and the individual’s special contribution to their profession.
Janice was nominated by SHLS Professor of Occupational Therapy Katrina Bannigan. Her colleagues at NHS Lanarkshire, who celebrated with her, said: “This is so well deserved – we are privileged to be led by you!”
“It is a real honour and privilege to be recognised by my profession and colleagues, and I am absolutely delighted to receive this award. I would like to thank Professor Katrina Bannigan for her nomination, and all of my colleagues in NHS Lanarkshire and across the partnerships for their continued support and leadership opportunities over the years,” said Janice.
Professor Bannigan explained why she nominated her for the award: “Janice McClymont is an inspirational occupational therapist whose influence has had national reach.
“For over 20 years, she has consistently led the occupational therapy profession in NHS Lanarkshire to perform at the cutting edge of practice to serve the population of Lanarkshire and beyond.
“Throughout her career, she has remained a compassionate and ‘human’ leader who enables every person who works with her to flourish by supporting their wellbeing and by providing a challenging work environment that enables growth and meaningful career development.”
