Glasgow Caledonian celebrates 40 Years of Media and Journalism
Glasgow Caledonian has staged a gala event to celebrate the 40th anniversary of its Media and Journalism programmes.
Hosted by STV presenter and honorary graduate Laura Boyd, it featured contributions from graduates, staff, and friends of Scotland's leading media and journalism courses.
Comedy writer and creator of Only an Excuse Phil Differ, STV Studios production executive Eleanor Keddie-Johnson, and STV Sports Reporter Ronnie Charters shared their stories as part of a graduate success panel.
Professor Simon McKerrell and Professor Catriona Miller joined former staff David Hutchison and Ken Garner to discuss the development of the department over the last four decades.
And Scottish screenwriter Damian Mullen, whose credits include Ackley Bridge, Holby City and River City, delivered the keynote speech.
Meanwhile, Radio 1 news presenter Calum Leslie, BBC Scotland TV presenter Amy Irons, Head of BBC Scotland Productions Anthony Browne, Capital DJ Katy Johnston, and Margaret Gibson OBE relived their time at Glasgow Caledonian in a video package.
Dr Shirley Rate, Dean of Glasgow School for Business and Society, told guests: "Over the past four decades, our Media and Journalism programmes have grown and evolved - adapting to the industry's ever-changing landscape.
"The media and journalism industry continues to evolve at a rapid pace. It is our responsibility to prepare our students to navigate this dynamic environment.
"Tonight, we gather to reflect on our journey, celebrate our achievements, and look forward to the future with optimism and excitement."
