Glasgow Caledonian University has continued its remarkable ascent in the higher education league tables by breaking into the coveted top 50 of the 2024 Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide for the first time.

We now stand proudly at 50th of 131 universities in the UK. This accomplishment cements our status as the leading modern university in Scotland.

This year's advance coincides with our recent climb of 12 places to 40th in the highly esteemed Guardian University Guide, and being ranked the 2nd UK top performing modern university in the inaugural Daily Mail University Guide.

We are the leading university in the UK in key health areas including Subjects allied to Medicine, Physiotherapy, and Radiography according to the Times and Sunday Times. We are also first in the UK for Food Science, with Hospitality, Leisure, Recreation and Tourism ranked second in the UK (first in Scotland).

Professor Steve Decent, our Principal and Vice-Chancellor, welcomed the results and said: “I am absolutely thrilled that the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024 recognises the dedication and excellence of our University. Our top-50 ranking is testament to our commitment to delivering transformative education and ground-breaking research that supports the communities we serve.”

“I extend my heartfelt thanks to our exceptional colleagues whose unwavering dedication and hard work have contributed to yet another outstanding achievement in the key University league tables.”

Today’s outstanding results are based on excellent outcomes in a range of areas including student satisfaction with teaching quality, the overall student experience, research quality, and our commitment to widening access and graduate employability .
