Jordan brand director offers career advice
A senior director of Jordan at Nike returned to Scotland to offer students valuable insight into one of the world's biggest sportswear brands.
Stephen Clark, who graduated from Glasgow Caledonian University in 2001, reflected on his career during a guest lecture to more than 200 fashion and marketing students.
He urged students to show passion and energy to prospective employers and stressed the importance of developing good communication skills and a growth mindset.
Over the last 20 years, Stephen has worked for Puma, Converse and the Jordan brand in London, New York, Boston, and Portland, Oregon.
In his current role, as Global Senior Director of Men's Product Merchandising, he has worked on collaborations with the likes of the singer-songwriter Billie Eilish and Paris Saint-Germain FC.
He told students: "It's fierce competition but it's been a great experience.
"Basketball is on fire in Europe and the brand is growing. We're looking to open up phenomenal retail experiences.
"It's a very diverse job. It's very passionate. You can't rest on your laurels for too long and you have to be resilient.
"When you leave university you think the hard work is over but it never ends, you have to keep going.
"You don't have to know all the answers to be a good leader. It's about getting the right answers from your team."
