Lecturer’s thanks for Ukraine fundraiser support
Glasgow Caledonian University Psychology Lecturer Dr Monika McNeill has thanked staff, students and members of the public for supporting her Ukraine humanitarian fundraiser held on campus last week.
Donations during the They Still Need Our Hand event on Friday, October 28, at the GCU Students' Association Re:Union Bar and through her online Crowdfunder means she has raised an incredible £4,839.
Dr McNeill, who is also the International Lead for the Department of Psychology, plans to keep her Crowdfunding page open in the hope of raising a total of £5,100 to pay for a large diesel generator for a hospital in Drohobych, Ukraine, specialising in treating war victims.
She paid special thanks to her colleagues and students for helping out on the night, to the Students' Association for providing the venue, the Re:Union Bar staff, and the University's communications, security and facilities staff for their support.
Dr McNeill said: "Thank you everyone who came on Friday Night to support the fundraiser and to everyone who has donated online for the hospital for the victims of the Russian war in Drohobych, Ukraine.
"Between the donations on the night and via the associated Crowdfunder we have raised an incredible £4,839! I am completely mind-blown by everyone's generosity.
"We had music from the brilliant bands The Fabulous Cruel Shoes, D-Dad and Victor Kennedy. The guys were really fantastic and they contributed to the night free of charge."
