MacGregor and MacDuff showcases GCU Fashion
Tartan outfits created by talented student designers from Glasgow Caledonian are being showcased in the window of MacGregor and MacDuff's flagship city centre store.
The window display in Bath Street follows a live industry project with Scotland's leading Highlandwear specialists and the University's fashion department.
Second-year students were asked to create contemporary streetwear designs incorporating the outfitter's traditional tartan fabrics.
Two of the designs, created by Emily Malcomson and Abby Craig, are now on show in the window. The whole collection debuted at this summer's GCU Fashion Showcase.
Laura Hardingham, lecturer in Fashion and Marketing at GCU Fashion, said: "Working with MacGregor and MacDuff on this project has been invaluable for our students, providing them with real-world experience of designing fashion outputs for a live client.
"It was fantastic to see how the students rose to the challenge of bringing Scotland’s’ heritage cloth to a new audience.
"I am incredibly pleased with all the work that students produced and the window display looks fantastic. It's a great opportunity for the students to showcase their work to a public audience."
Monique McPhie, Head of Marketing at MacGregor and MacDuff, said:: "It has been great seeing the students' creativity, from initial presentations to the finished garments on the runway, culminating in a window display at our flagship store on Bath Street.
"Tartan is iconic to Scotland and seeing our designs used in a university project was really exciting.
"Each part of the industry live project has been a pleasure to be involved in and we can't wait to do it again."
