Paving the way for global engineers
Professor Patricia Muñoz-Escalona will deliver a Professorial Lecture exploring the importance of tailoring teaching to ensure the creation of global citizens who can work together with people from all generations.
Professor Muñoz-Escalona will also highlight the need to create more women engineers for industry.
She will share her compelling career journey, bridging the realms of research and engineering education. Her talk will highlight her research career, her dedication to cultivating engineering talent and offering students opportunities to develop professional skills.
During her address, she will stress the importance of providing role models for aspiring young engineers, underscoring the need to inspire enthusiasm in STEAM* fields for a sustainable economy and society.
Professor Muñoz-Escalona said: “The UK engineering industry is going through two main issues: a shortfall of 20,000 graduate engineers per year and lack of women engineers. These two issues are a key challenge that must be addressed to guarantee a sustainable economy and this is what I intend to explore in my lecture.”
A prominent figure at Glasgow Caledonian University since 2018, Professor Muñoz-Escalona holds impressive credentials as CEng, MIMechE, SFHEA, and is a STEM Ambassador. She serves as the Programme Leader for MEng/BEng Mechanical System Engineering, Academic STEAM Lead for the School of Computing Engineering and Built Environment, and leads the Engineering and Computing Education Research Group (EcERG).
The Professorial Lecture will take place on Tuesday, January 23, 2024, from 5.30pm.
