Principal honoured with lifetime achievement award
GCU Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Pamela Gillies CBE FRSE was presented with the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce Award for Lifetime Achievement at last night’s (October 6) Glasgow Business Awards.
Professor Gillies received the award in recognition of her services to education.
Hosted by Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, the Glasgow Business Awards shine a light on the successes of the city’s business community. In total, 17 awards were won by a selection of Glasgow's best and brightest business talents during the ceremony, which took place at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Glasgow city centre.
With Royal Bank of Scotland as main sponsor, and The Herald as media partner, the ceremony highlighted the resilience and determination of Glasgow businesses in the face of ever-challenging circumstances.
Professor Gillies said: “I am truly humbled and privileged to receive this award, which reflects the wonderful partnership working for the Common Good with so many colleagues over my 45-year career. It is especially important for me to have received the award from Glasgow City Chambers. It reflects the warmth and joy I have experienced in working with people in this city and region, delivering impact for citizens and businesses alike.”
