Professor Decent welcomes Jamie Hepburn MSP to the University
Jamie Hepburn MSP, the Scottish Government’s Minister for Higher Education and Further Education, Youth Employment and Training, held his first meeting with our new Principal and Vice-Chancellor Professor Steve Decent on our Glasgow campus today, Wednesday January 18.
Their meeting was an opportunity for Mr Hepburn to learn more about the range of work being undertaken at Glasgow Caledonian University, and to hear from Professor Decent about the approach he will bring to his new role and his ambitions for the University in the years ahead.
Higher and Further Education Minister Jamie Hepburn said: “It was good to have the opportunity to meet with Professor Decent and learn more about his ambitions to build on the legacy of Professor Gillies.
“We will continue to work closely with Glasgow Caledonian and our world-class university sector to ensure our entire post-school education, research and skills system is fit for the future - ready to address challenges such as the climate emergency, economic recovery and reducing inequalities.
“I look forward to working with the new Vice-Chancellor and the University in meeting those challenges.”
Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Professor Decent said: “It was a pleasure to welcome Mr Hepburn to Glasgow Caledonian today and to share with him my plans to build on the University’s achievements and reputation. Our university is strongly aligned to the priorities of the Scottish Government and I very much look forward to working with them and other key stakeholders in the years ahead.”
