Professor Lesley McMillan named Co-Editor of new academic journal
Professor Lesley McMillan has been appointed Co-Editor-in-Chief of a new academic journal - Gender and Justice.
The publication, produced by Bristol University Press and set to launch in 2025, will be dedicated to advancing critical feminist scholarship on justice in the social sciences.
It will aim to showcase innovative contributions covering gender inequality, injustice and exclusion across diverse and global contexts.
Professor McMillan said: "Gender and Justice will be committed to pushing the boundaries of knowledge in these domains and advocates for ground-breaking approaches to both the theory and practice of social scientific research.
"We are focused on generating critical debates to consider what a feminist conception of justice can mean in terms of society."
Contributions are being sought from researchers in but not limited to the following disciplines - Sociology, Criminology, Socio-legal studies, Gender studies, Queer studies, Economics, Human geography, Ethnography, and Anthropology.
In particular, the journal will welcome articles that introduce and advance new conceptual and creative methodological approaches to research and practice, relative to gender justice, which can advance knowledge and inform activism.
The editorial team comprises Professor McMillan, Dr Sharron FitzGerald, Director of the Law, Gender and Sexuality Network, and Professor Anna Carline, of the University of Liverpool.
They will be joined by Consulting Editor, Professor Maggie O’Neill, of University College Cork, a team of Associate Editors and an international editorial board.
The first edition of the journal will launch in spring 2025. If you have an idea for an article, please email genderandjustice-editorial@bristol.ac.uk for further information.
