Students rate GSBS a 'transformational' business school
Glasgow School for Business and Society has achieved 'Transformational' status in the 2023 Positive Impact Rating (PIR).
PIR is based on an assessment carried out by students who evaluate their business schools based on their societal impact and commitment to continuous improvement.
The ratings measure how schools contribute to solving societal challenges and act as a lever of change to the transformation of the business school landscape.
Aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals, PIR promotes purpose-driven education worldwide.
Dr Shariq Sheikh, senior lecturer in management and UN PRME Lead at Glasgow Caledonian, said: “Being recognised by our students to be a ‘Transformational’ school is heartening.
"It is a great testament to the efforts that are put in by colleagues across all departments of GSBS and it will motivate us to go even further in our commitment to incorporate sustainability in all our teaching and research, and will surely enable our students to create a positive impact on the world”.
Dr Shirley Rate, Dean of GSBS said, “Our society is faced with unprecedented challenges, and needs a fresh approach to address some of the pressing issues of our times.
"By embedding education for sustainable development across the curriculum, we are taking positive steps in the right direction, and being judged as ‘Transformational’ by our students is truly inspirational.”
Professor Steve Decent, Principal and Vice-Chancellor of Glasgow Caledonian, said: “This is wonderful news and reflects the school’s commitment to embedding sustainability in the curriculum across all programmes.
"Transformation is at the heart of everything we do, and it is wonderful to see this acknowledged by our students.
"I want to congratulate the Dean and all GSBS colleagues involved in helping to achieve this result."
