Taggart: The People's Archive receives overwhelming response

The public response to the Taggart archive has been overwhelming

The public response to Taggart: The People’s Archive has been “completely overwhelming” with more than 120 people quizzed during 18 hours of drop-in sessions this week.

The demand has been so great that our Archive team will accept witness statements and evidence via an online form until September 30.

A new archive at Glasgow Caledonian will be created featuring all the stories and mementoes gathered to recognise the role the public played in the success of the iconic Scottish drama.

Taggart star Dr Blythe Duff, who devised the idea with University Archivist Carole McCallum, said: “The whole Archive team has been completely overwhelmed by the outpouring of love for Taggart.

“Our retired detectives have never worked so hard in all their life. I don’t think we could have hoped for it to go any better.

“Some of the evidence and the statements that have come through have not only been heart-warming but heartfelt. It’s a reminder that the most important thing that Taggart achieved was to truly reach people.”
