Glasgow Caledonian University is once again the top-performing modern university in Scotland according to the prestigious Complete University Guide 2024.

The University is ranked 79th out of 130 universities in the UK, having climbed nine places. Fourteen subject areas have also seen an increase in the rankings, and five of our subject areas are listed in the top ten in the UK – Counselling, Psychotherapy & Occupational Therapy; Forensic Science; Medical Technology & Bioengineering; Optometry, Ophthalmics & Orthoptics; and Social Work.

The Complete University Guide comprises a set of university and subject league tables aimed at guiding prospective students in their higher education decision making.

The main league table draws upon a range of metrics, including student experience, completion rates and research data from the most recent REF exercise. Glasgow Caledonian has improved its overall score in six metrics and performed strongly in relation to graduate prospects in particular, a key priority for the University.

Professor Steve Decent, Glasgow Caledonian Principal and Vice-Chancellor, said: “We are delighted by the increase in our ranking in the Complete University Guide, which recognises that we are delivering academic excellence for our students and is testament to the commitment of colleagues across the University and the talented students who study with us.”
