University recognised for enhancing Glasgow's economy and reputation as a city of learning
Jill Watt, Director of the GCU Foundation and Alumni Engagement and Events, has joined representatives of universities across the city to launch a tartan celebrating 30 years of the Glasgow Conference Ambassador Programme.
The Right Honourable Lord Provost of Glasgow, Councillor Jacqueline McLaren, presented tartan shields to Glasgow Caledonian and the universities of Glasgow and Strathclyde, as well as to Glasgow Convention Bureau, in recognition of their contribution to the economy and reputation of Glasgow as a city of learning and innovation.
The first of its kind in the UK, the programme is run by Glasgow Convention Bureau. It offers support and advice to help academics, scientists, healthcare professionals and business people bring UK and international conferences to the city.
Glasgow Caledonian staff who would like help to bring a conference or event to the University should contact the Conference and Events Team for advice. The team will be running drop-in sessions in the new academic year for staff who want to find out more about the support that is available when they are organising events, to roll out the refreshed events toolkit, and to promote the Glasgow Conference Ambassador Programme.
