Watch Professor Lombard at the Festival of Politics

Professor Nancy Lombard's appearance on an expert panel at The Festival of Politics at the Scottish Parliament is now available to watch online.

Glasgow Caledonian's Professor in Sociology and Social Policy contributed to Talking to boys and men about gender-based violence at Holyrood on August 10.

The discussion, chaired by James Dornan MSP, of the Cross-Party Group on Men's Violence Against Women and Children, covered what is being done in the justice system, schools, and with public education campaigns to challenge attitudes and behaviours.

Professor Lombard, who was joined by Sandy Brindley, Chief Executive of Rape Crisis Scotland, journalist Adam Miller, and violence prevention trainer Graham Goulden, said: "I think there's been a lot of fantastic campaigns that have helped to inform boys and men's understanding of men's violence against women but I think there's a lot of entrenched attitudes that haven't changed - the way that men still view women.

"When I worked in primary school and talked to boys, not only about violence but also gender, they had very fixed ideas of what women were and how women should behave and those, in turn, inform their ideas about relationships and how women should act."
