Ellyn Lightbody

BA in International Fashion Brand Retailing

Marketing Executive at Little’s Chauffeur Drive

We’re interested to learn more about graduates’ time at Glasgow Caledonian and the path they’ve taken since completing their studies. Ellyn Lightbody graduated in 2022 with a BA in International Fashion Brand Retailing and is now working full-time as a marketing executive at Little’s Chauffeur Drive.

Having an interest in both business and fashion, she struggled to find a course that combined these two aspects. That was until she found the International Fashion Branding course at GCU which covered various subjects from fashion to finance, business to law and much more. This allowed her to gain experience while also helping her decide which areas to specialise in for her future career. During her time at GCU she made great friendships and was exposed to many inspiring female leaders within the fashion department.

After graduating, Ellyn was given the chance to start her own business which she could run alongside a full-time career. After four months of developing a business plan, she created G51 Studio Space, a studio and event venue available to hire for events such as photoshoots, birthday parties and much more. They recently hosted their first market where they collaborated with other local businesses to offer products such as clothing, skincare, jewelry and candles.

She also currently works with a family business called Little’s Chauffeur Drive as a marketing executive. After only working at the company for a couple of months, she has had the opportunity to help direct photoshoots and filming days while also being involved with the launch of their new website.

In the future Ellyn would love to progress within her marketing career at Little’s, continuing to grow and learn with the company. Her advice for any future students thinking about the same career path is to gain as much experience in the working world as possible to help determine your strengths and weaknesses within the industry.

The memories that I made during my time at GCU were the best.
