Adverse weather contingency plans during January 2025 exams

To avoid problems later, students must read the information below and note the actions they are expected to take should adverse weather impact on exams which are taking place on campus.

We are currently not expecting adverse weather conditions during the exam diet (Wednesday, 8 to Friday,17 January) and all exams are expected to go ahead as planned.

However, if the situation changes, contingency plans are in place to ensure that all students affected by extreme weather have the chance to sit their exams. No students will be disadvantaged if they cannot attend an exam on campus because of the adverse weather conditions and they follow the correct procedures to notify the University.

If you cannot attend an exam as a result of the weather but it has not been officially postponed, please email or call your Programme Co-ordinator without delay. You will also be required to complete an online declaration form

to notify the University that you were unable to sit due to travel disruption caused by adverse weather.  This form MUST be completed within 2 days of the date of the exam.

You will be updated with further information if the current situation changes.

In the advent of adverse weather conditions, daily updates will be sent out via email and social media, directing students to the GCU website, which will be updated with information, including weather conditions, travel advice and alerts from Police Scotland.

Students should not ignore official travel advice in order to attend exams.
