The Library offers a range of workshops and training sessions for students and staff.
The Ask & Learn Workshops for students are delivered by your Academic Librarian team and are open to all GCU students at all levels of study.
The Library also provides training for GCU staff in using the institution resource list system, Leganto; the University’s research information system and research repository, Pure and ResearchOnline; GCU's educational resource repository, edShare, and copyright and licensing considerations.

Dissertation drop-in clinic (1 hour)

Dissertation drop in clinics will run Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays throughout November.
On campus:
10.00am to 11.00am - Wednesday 6, 13, 20 and 27 November - Library drop-ins and workshop space, Level 1 .
3.00pm to 4.00pm - Thursday 7, 14, 21 and 28 November - Library drop-ins and workshop space, Level 1 .
Online :
1.00pm to 2.00pm - Friday 8, 15, 22 and 29 November - you can attend the clinic using this Blackboard Collaborate link .
Come along to our dissertation and honours project drop-in to get help with literature searching and reference management for your dissertation, honours project or proposal.
Feel free to drop in anytime within the hour. No need to book - just come along. Groups are encouraged where common questions or themes exist. If you can't make these times you are welcome to attend our Library drop in sessions or make an appointment .

An introduction to Resource Lists

This workshop aims to introduce members of staff to Resource Lists at GCU , the university reading list system. Resource Lists at GCU allows academic staff to create structured, annotated lists that contain a wide variety of different resource types. Staff can easily collaborate with academic colleagues and library staff to create, update and maintain lists. It is also fully integrated with GCULearn to provide a seamless student experience.
The workshop will give staff an introduction to the library service, demonstrate the system and it's functionality, as well as a chance to create or update their own resource lists with support from library staff.
The introduction to Resource Lists workshop is suitable for all staff who have an interest in creating digital resource lists for use within teaching and learning, or within GCU support services.

An introduction to edShare@GCU and Open Educational Resources

This workshop aims to introduce members of staff to the University's educational resource repository, edShare@GCU . Participants will discover what edShare can be used for and to utilise some of the basic functions of the repository, such as:
uploading resources applying a Creative Commons license and what this means imputing metadata about a resource creating new versions of a resource The session will also serve as an introduction to Open Educational Resources (OERs) by describing what OERs are, how you can create them, where you can find them and the benefits of incorporating them into your teaching and educational practices.
This workshop is suitable for academic and support staff who deliver teaching or are tasked with developing educational resources, and would like to learn more about the University’s educational resource repository and open education practices.
